Resource Management / Environmental Law

Stuart has substantial experience in providing advocacy and advice in the environmental and resource management law field in New Zealand particularly under the Resource Management Act 1991 and other key pieces of environmental legislation, including in relation to:

  • resource consent applications and appeals
  • plan and policy changes
  • land use and subdivision
  • applications in the coastal environment
  • enforcement and other statutory remedies

Stuart has acted for both the private and public sectors – companies, local authorities, interest groups and individuals.

Local Government Law

Stuart has provided wide-ranging advocacy and advice to the local government sector at both a district and regional level, as well as to private individuals and companies interacting with local government, in relation to:
